Finished vehicles and parts are different bookings

A dealer car on RoRo is a unit with a VIN, a title check and a sailing. A crate of transmissions for a plant is cubic metres, a production date and a warehouse that can stage them. Mixing the two on one “automotive logistics” promise is how titles get missed and line-side cargo sits in a depot. We quote the vehicle product and the parts product separately, on the same coordinator when they are one customer.

We ship from the East Coast yards and from Newark for boxed parts. Air is for the VIN-specific spare that stops a line, not for a container of filters. We are not a finished-vehicle compound operator with a nationwide dealer network — we are the forwarder who gets the unit or the parts onto the water and through customs.

This page is for you if…

  • You are exporting cars, trucks or equipment and need title paperwork checked before cut-off
  • Parts have to hit a plant or dealer date, not merely a port
  • You want RoRo versus container compared on the same vehicles
  • Batteries, airbags or other DG parts are in the mix

This is not the page for…

  • Domestic drive-away or in-operable towing as a standalone U.S. product
  • Running a dealer compound or pre-delivery inspection line
  • Last-mile consumer car delivery inside another country

What we move for automotive

Vehicle transportation

Cars, light trucks and rolling equipment on RoRo or in containers. Title and export checks happen before the unit is sent to the terminal, not on the day of the cut-off.

  • RoRo for running units on served lanes
  • Container when the unit is high-value, non-running, or the lane has no RoRo
  • Link through to the dedicated vehicle service for the full product

Parts and accessories

Engines, body panels, electronics and aftermarket stock as FCL, LCL or air. The constraint is usually the date, not the commodity.

  • Newark staging when you need to build a container from several suppliers
  • Air for the line-down spare; ocean for the replenishment behind it
  • DG identified (airbags, batteries, air-conditioning gas) before booking

Production and supplier flows

Repeated lanes rather than one-off crates: a booking pattern, a named coordinator, and a warehouse that can hold a week of stock without inventing a 3PL network.

  • Standing instructions for a lane once the first shipment has run
  • Inventory reports from our Newark facility when we hold the stock
  • One file per departure, not a new explanation every week

Finished-vehicle export lots

Small dealer or exporter lots — a handful of units, not a factory block-train. Customs and destination agent on the same file as the ocean booking.

  • VIN list and titles collected up front
  • Pre-alert so the destination port is not discovering the units on arrival
  • No claim that we inspect every unit as a manufacturer PDI bay would

Services this cargo usually uses

Vehicles go through the RoRo product. Parts use ocean, air, warehousing and ground like any other industrial cargo.

How an automotive shipment is booked

  1. Units or parts — not both as one blob

VIN list and titles for vehicles; dimensions, weight and DG status for parts. The quote is built from that, not from “automotive cargo”.

  2. RoRo, container or air

We price the modes that apply. If RoRo is cheaper and the unit qualifies, that is the recommendation. If a battery pack forces container or a ban, that is on the quote.

  3. Paperwork before the terminal

Titles, export filing and any DG declarations completed before the unit or crate is sent in. Terminals do not wait for a missing title.

  4. Arrival and handover

Destination agent, duties and the party who collects. Dealer lots and plant deliveries have different receiving rules; we need yours in writing.

Papers this cargo usually needs

Title / proof of ownership
For vehicles. We check it before the terminal cut-off. A promised title that arrives on sailing day is how units miss the vessel.
VIN list and commercial invoice
Each unit or part line identified. Mixed “spare parts” descriptions stall destination customs.
Export declaration
AES/EEI filed in-house for the export. Used vehicles have their own reporting traps; we flag them.
DG documents for parts
Airbags, lithium batteries, air-conditioning refrigerant — classed or they do not fly and may not sail.

Automotive freight questions

What vehicles can you export?

Cars, light trucks and many pieces of rolling equipment on lanes that have RoRo or container service. Motorcycles and specialty units are quoted as pieces with their own packing. We do not run a drive-away network inside the U.S.

Do you ship automotive parts internationally?

Yes — FCL, LCL and air from U.S. origins, with Newark consolidation when several suppliers feed one container. Customs is filed in-house.

RoRo or container for cars?

RoRo is usually cheaper for running units on served lanes. Container wins for non-running, high-value or lanes with no RoRo. We price both when both exist.

How do you keep vehicles from being damaged?

By using the right product (RoRo or a properly lashed container), checking titles before the terminal, and not treating a car as general cargo. We are not a detailing shop; we are the party that books a method designed for vehicles.
