Industrial and machinery freight from the USA

Machinery, plant equipment and project cargo from U.S. shops and yards — crated, lashed and cleared as freight, not as an afterthought on a production invoice.

Industrial cargo is heavy, expensive and allergic to vague dimensions

A CNC machine is not “one pallet”. It has a centre of gravity, anchor points and a crate that has to match the ocean method. We book FCL when it fits, flat-rack or breakbulk when it does not, and air only when the install crew is already on site and the machine is late. Most of our volume sits in this category — machinery and industrial parts — so the questions are familiar.

Newark holds and transloads general industrial cargo. Oversize road moves are arranged with heavy-haul, not with a standard drayage truck. We are the forwarder and the warehouse, not the millwright. Installation, anchoring and commissioning stay with your contractor.

This page is for you if…

  • A machine or line has to move from a U.S. plant to a site abroad
  • Raw inputs or spare parts feed production on a date
  • You need export crating and a packing list that customs will accept
  • The piece may be out of gauge and you want that decided before booking

This is not the page for…

  • Factory relocation as a turnkey including unbolting and reinstall
  • Operating a bonded industrial park or foreign-trade zone as the landlord
  • Commodity bulk (ores, scrap) as a trading cargo

What we move for industrial shippers

Machinery and equipment

Machine tools, packaging lines, construction and plant equipment, packed for the mode that actually fits.

  • Crate or skid spec before pickup
  • FCL, open-top, flat-rack or breakbulk — chosen after measuring
  • Insurance on declared value, in writing

Inputs and spare parts

Metals, components and maintenance parts as FCL, LCL or air. The interesting constraint is usually the production date.

  • Newark consolidation from several U.S. vendors
  • Air for the broken part; ocean for the stock behind it
  • DG checked (aerosols, batteries, chemicals in the same crate)

Warehousing next to the port

Staging, palletising and release against a sailing. Useful when the machine is ready before the site is.

  • Short-term holds without inventing a 3PL campus
  • Photos and piece counts before load
  • Transload when the inbound arrival is a container you do not want to send inland

Project cargo for builds and shutdowns

Multiple pieces, a sequence, and a site that may only receive at night or with a crane on hire for one day.

  • Piece list and sequence on the file
  • Permits and route surveys on the road legs when required
  • Handover terms that name who supplies the crane

Services this cargo usually uses

Ocean for the machine. Ground and transload around the port. Warehousing when the dates do not match.

How an industrial shipment is booked

  1. Dimensions that are true

L × W × H, weight, lifting points, whether it is crated already. A photo with a tape in the frame beats a round number in an email.

  2. Method

If it fits a container, we price FCL. If it does not, we price the OOG method and the extra days. Air only when the date forces it.

  3. Crate, collect, file

Export packing if needed, pickup, in-house AES. The packing list lists pieces, not “1 lot machinery”.

  4. Site delivery

Destination trucker and site rules. If a crane is required, it is on the plan. If the site slips, we need that the same day — demurrage does not pause for optimism.

Papers this cargo usually needs

Piece-level packing list
Each machine or crate identified. Needed for customs, for the carrier, and for the receiving site.
Commercial invoice with serials
Serial numbers where they exist. Destination import often wants them; so does insurance.
Export filing
AES/EEI in-house. Licensed machine tools and dual-use items are flagged before booking.
Lifting and packing spec
If a survey or seafastening certificate is required, it is scheduled, not hoped for at the terminal.

Industrial freight questions

What industrial cargo do you handle?

Machinery, plant equipment, construction gear, spare parts and project lots. This is the core of our volume. Bulk commodity trading is not.

How do you move oversized machines?

Measure, then book the equipment that fits: open-top, flat-rack, breakbulk or heavy-haul. We do not declare a 3.2 m piece as 2.4 m to get a cheaper box.

Can you manage a multi-piece project?

Yes, as freight: sequence, documents and destination handover. We do not unbolt the line or commission it at the other end.

Do you crate?

We arrange export crating to the spec the mode needs, or we collect cargo already packed if the crate is fit for ocean or air. Unfit packing is cheaper to fix in Newark than at a destination claim.
